Until now, adults drew the originals. From here on, kids can draw what they want to draw. We transform imaginative ideas—like a cat exploring space or a unicorn running on a rainbow—into beautiful line art. Print your creations and enjoy coloring them.

Children coloring pages they created at an event

Original drawings created by visiting children at a booth during MITOU Conference (hosted by IPA). Unexpected ideas like "a dinosaur and a bullet train" made the event a huge hit.

Why we build AI Coloring

Today's screen time often becomes only "watching." We want to increase time spent "creating." Videos are easy and fun, but can be passive. In an age where AI is close at hand, the way we play with coloring can shift from imagination to creation. If kids play on tablets, can we turn that into a hands-on creative experience? That idea is the starting point of AI Coloring.

With advances in generative AI, turning a child's imagination into line art has become realistic. Ideas like "a pteranodon swimming" or "a unicorn running on a rainbow" become coloring pages within a short wait, and kids' eyes light up when it finishes. We want to be the safest and most creative way for kids to interact with AI. That's why we focus on a UI even a 4-year-old can use without confusion and aim to make the creative doorway as open and gentle as possible. AI Coloring is a tool to bring children's imagination into the world.

FAQ

Q1: How does AI-generated coloring work?

We use GPT-4o to create descriptive prompts from the selected keywords, cultural context, and age group, then send them to image-generation models (OpenAI DALL·E 3, Google Imagen 3) to output line art. We select the model based on its strengths.

Q2: Is it safe for kids? Can you prevent inappropriate images?

Yes. Safety is our top priority. We filter inappropriate words and rights-sensitive expressions with our own agent AI at the keyword stage, and image-generation models also have content filters.

Q3: Will it be paid in the future?

All features are currently free and unlimited to celebrate the launch. In the future, we plan a subscription model for the "generation" feature. However, coloring pages in the "Discover" tab and reusing uncollected pages will remain free so even free users can enjoy the app.

Q4: Who owns the copyright for generated coloring pages? Can schools use them?

Copyright for generated coloring pages belongs to Zukan.com Inc. Personal and household use is free. Educational use in school classes (including copying and distribution) is permitted under Article 35 of the Copyright Act. Please contact us for commercial or corporate use. See the Terms of Service for details.

Q5: Can we color directly inside the app?

The app does not include a coloring tool. Please print and color on paper. You can also transfer the image to a drawing app and color digitally.

Q6: Is there a feature to turn colored pages into videos?

We are actively developing this feature and already testing it in events.
